Lawrence English – The Bells That Spoke

from Chairs, Speakers, sparse Light by Various Artists

/

about

"This piece is one focused on the notion of 'peculiar familiarity.' The work was recorded in a section of forest not more than 25 minutes from where I live. It is a wonderful reminder of the radical differences that exist at the fringes of our urban spaces. The sense of control, the planned living experience begins to blur and morph along these edges. It's here that complex acoustic interactions occur, sounds from one zone reach out to the other creating a curious interplay of the living and the lived in. A reminder of the temporal nature of settlement and the eventual promise of natural reclamation in time."
