Franziska Lingg – Momentum _2

about

"This compositional piece of work understands momentum as a force to move oneself or others. The moment or impulse is seen as a level that can either shift to the past or the future. The continuum doesn't have to be continued—or, as Stockhausen said when he defined the compositional strategy of the moment form: '… a moment is an autonomous and independent period, that is divided from other periods with fractures.' Thus, the composition at hand as a whole consciously avoids a release. Rather, it is coined by a variability up to the phase of stagnation. The piece is based on an untuned harp, providing the impulse for certain sounds. Those sounds define the inner logic of 'Momentum _2.'"

Franziska Lingg is a sound artist and former professor at Lucerne's School of Art and Design. While originally working with sculptures, Lingg integrated sound installations, compositions, and concerts in her practice over the course of time. Furthermore, as a professor she encouraged her students to understand sound as an artistic material. Based on the ideas related to noise music, Lingg suggests that everything can be sound and deserves attention.
